Follow-Up on Cannibalism Post

July 23, 2008 / by yayachick

Okay, I finally turned in my report on cannibalism. I ended up doing my report on the history of cannibalism, cannibalistic incidents that were seen as necessity for survival (i.e., The Donner Party), and, my personal favorite (joke), cannibalism as means for sexual gratification and murder (i.e., Jeffrey Dahmer). My teacher loved the paper saying that it was excellent and well written, etc. I know, I know, serious thumbs up for myself. I'm freakin awesome. Yes, when it comes to writing about disgusting things I do well. So, after receiving my perfect score I decided to share my news with anyone on Blogster.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I found info on who the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is really based on, Ed Gein. Look him up. He's an interesting character. Apparently he lived in Wisconsin, not Texas, and he was a man who wanted to be a woman but could not afford the surgery; therefore, he would either kill women or dig up women who had recently died and use their body parts to make himself some "clothes" such as leggings, belts, etc. and furniture such as lampshades and bowls, etc. I know, gross right? Another pretty disturbing story is the one about Issei Sagawa who murdered and ate a women in France in 1981 and was sent home to Japan where he only served 15 months in prison. This guy actually became famous and writes books on cannibalistic incidents. Two songs were even written about him. The story is the subject of a verse in the 1986 Rolling Stones song "Too Much Blood" and the 1981 Stranglers song "La Folie". If you want to know more about these creeps you can look then up on http://articles.gourt.com/en/cannibalistic, scroll down to sexualized cannibalism, and click on their names to read their whole story. I actually lost my appetite for a few days.

You may want to check out Alexander "Sasha" Spesivtsev. This guy even had his own mother lure victims into their apartment where he would murder the girls, have sex with their corpses, and then he and his mother would eat the bodies. (Well, at least he was nice enough to share with his mommy). Anyways, enough writing about this topic. If you want to know more, either post a question or look up the info on the link I have provided. Ciao for now!

It seems like the character Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs was probably based (at least in part) on Ed Gein, since they both tailored clothing out of human female skin.

What about Dr. Lector?  Is the character Dr. Hannibal Lector (from the Silence of the Lambs) based on any real person/people or any actual events?  I'm currious if you came across any events similar to those portrayed in Hannibal Rising (where he is forced to eat his own sister).

Buffalo Bill and the character from Psycho are actually both based on Ed Gein. Ed Gein also had a weird realtionship with his mother.

Dr. Lector's character is actually fictional. There have been cases of murder and cannibalism in Germany that were committed and set up like scenes from the movie though. If you google the name Armin Meiwes (be careful  of some websites), he is the latest cannibal in Germany, but before he was caught he had helped catch another cannibal who had used scenes from the movie to set up his killings.

Great first you are saying what a good cook you are and now you are writing about cannibals. So what kind of food do you cook again.

I cook almost everything but mostly Italian. I make some kickass deserts too. My double chocolate and fresh strawberry bundt cake is a popular request for most of my family and friends.
